Faces and Beyond is the story of how an analytical perspective rooted in engineering transforms into poetry when it meets the chaotic rhythm of life. When Atilla first encountered photography in 2010, he experienced what he himself calls a kind of "rebirth." This exhibition is a collection of faces he has carried from that birth to today — stretching from the quiet parks of Boston to the colorful streets of Oaxaca, from the cobblestone roads of Guatemala to the melancholy nights of New Orleans. The people you will encounter here may not feel familiar to you. But somewhere in their gazes, you will find yourself. Because Atilla does not "take photographs" — in those brief moments when life looks at you, he looks back. The question hidden in the eyes of the child in Innocent Gaze, the resignation on the face of the elderly Guatemalan man in Weary, the solitary note of the musician in Solo — all are different translations of the same quiet sentence: "I am here. Did you see me?" The exhibition is built on two layers. Faces — yüzler — takes us to the most intimate geography of the human being, to the edge of expression. Beyond — ötesi — begins where there is no face, where only a silhouette, a reflection, a road remains. The triumphant cry of Victory Under a Starry Night, the uncertain step of Walking Into an Unknown Future, the silence of Reflection Poem on a salt lake — these are faceless portraits. Because sometimes what best describes a person is not their face, but the absence that belongs to them. There is no staging in Atilla's photographs. No prepared lighting, no directed poses. What happens is this: someone is living, someone else is seeing, and seeing becomes a gift. This gift given to the world by a Black Sea engineer, a father running a mezze business in America, the father of Dora and Duru — is now yours. As you move through this exhibition, do not rush. Look at the faces, then go beyond. Perhaps you will see that behind the faces, we all share the same silence.
