DENİZ ÇİMEN
Born in Istanbul in 1986.
Started Calligraphy Art with Calligrapher Gürkan Pehlivan in 2004.
Graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts
Traditional Turkish Handicrafts Department in 2013.
Received minor education in the Photography Department at the same faculty.
Received classical education from Prof. Dr. Uğur Derman and Prof. Dr. Çiçek Derman.
By combining Traditional Art education with Contemporary Art practices using different materials,
he produces work as an Installation and Experimental artist.
Received ijazah in Thuluth and Naskh in 2010.
His art practice is not only on paper;
the artist, who develops his work with different tools such as
space, object, light, texture, perspective, photography and digital art,
produces Contemporary Calligraphy Art and different Installation-focused works.
He uses the pen name "Bahrî" in his works.
Particularly on Calligraphy Art, he creates Experimental Installations and
Surrealist works with an Interdisciplinary approach...
The artist, along with academic studies, has been teaching for over 15 years in
"Calligraphy Art" and "Basic Art" fields at Maltepe Faculty of Fine Arts;
training students of different age groups and levels.
He currently produces Modern Calligraphy
Works from both classical, experimental and contemporary perspectives; continues his teaching duties at his personal workshop and at the university...
