EROL YILDIRIM
He was born in Bolu in 1959. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in İzmir. He entered the Military Academy in 1977. In 1980, he took painting lessons in the painting course opened at the military school and participated in a group exhibition at the end of the course. He continued his painting work and took painting lessons from Iranian painter Yakup Hüseyinzade, and between 2010 and 2013, he took original printmaking techniques lessons from Professor H. Müjde Ayan at the painting teaching department of Marmara University.
Erol Yıldırım's works address social issues and people's inner complexity (their experiences, dreams, desires, fears, emotions, thoughts and life struggles) by symbolizing them through figural abstractions. In his works, he uses original techniques (imitation gold, copper and silver leaf and powders) with oil paint to add different dimensions, bringing symbols to the forefront and leaving the interpretation to the viewer of the work.
The artist opened his first personal painting exhibition in 1995 at Kadıköy Bahariye Akbank Exhibition Hall. His works have been exhibited in 12 personal exhibitions, 46 group exhibitions and 5 "Living Soldier Painters" exhibitions in many provinces. He has participated in 4 group exhibitions abroad (Tresart Gallery Quebec/Canada, Sigvardson Gallery Rodby/Denmark, Guangzhou/China and Ostrow/Welkopolski, Largo Art Gallery Varna/Bulgaria),
3 Biennials (2014 XV. Exlibris Biennial Miata Museum Ostrow/Wielkopolski-Poland, 2014 3rd Guangzhou International Exlibris and Mini Print Biennial Guangzhou/China, İzmir Biennial İzmir/Turkey).
