Fatoş Ötenen

Born in Muğla in 1980, the artist began her journey with art during her elementary school years and deepened her visual production practice, which she oriented towards at an early age, through private lessons from professors and master artists of Turkey's leading universities. This academic and practical foundation has created an important ground that forms the basis of the artist's aesthetic orientations, theoretical references, and production methodology. After graduating from the Fine Arts Faculty Painting Department, the artist completed her Pedagogical Formation education and strengthened her academic competence by obtaining Graphic Design Master's with Thesis and Graphic Design Doctorate degrees. Scientific research processes have enabled the artist to develop an interdisciplinary approach in her production; art theory, aesthetics, visual culture analyses, and contemporary art practices have become an integral part of her production. ÖtenenArt, which she established in Bodrum in 2010, is structured as a platform where the artist institutionalizes her own production while supporting artists from different disciplines and young producers. This formation is an expression of an art approach that is associated with social responsibility projects and prioritizes social benefit. The artist positions her practice on a wide scale of creation by carrying her productions, which progress mainly through pop art aesthetics, not only to canvas but also to the fields of design, space, object, and moving image. Her work as a painting teacher, art director, corporate design, and painter/project consultant in architectural projects is a natural extension of her interdisciplinary production form. Her versatile practice extending from canvas surface to speedboat design; from commercial film to book cover design; from cinema to interior space art applications is an indicator of the artist's ability to redefine her visual language in different contexts.
