Merve Uçar was born in İstanbul in 1985. She graduated from Koç University Faculty of Humanities and Literature, Department of Sociology. After living in Italy for nearly a year during university and completing her education on the behind-the-scenes aspects of the fashion industry, she completed the Art Theory and Criticism Master's Program at Işık University. During this process, she received training on various printing techniques at the İstanbul Museum of Graphic Arts (İMOGA), founded by Süleyman Saim Tekcan; the works she carried out here deepened her interest in art and especially painting practice. In order to develop her academic and artistic production from an interdisciplinary perspective, she started the Applied Psychology Master's Program at Üsküdar University. During her art education processes, she had the opportunity to work with Özge Gürkan, Kemal Kara and Sema Tahincioğlu. The artist continues her work in her studio, focusing on the transforming states of life by making visible the traces of individual experiences and emotional memory through an inner journey woven with colors and textures.
