This work addresses the erasure and disregard of women's identity in the traditional world. While the colorful kilim motifs in the background symbolize a vibrant, deep-rooted, and dominant culture, the black-and-white depiction of the woman shows how she is rendered colorless, silent, and pushed to the background within this colorful world. While the facelessness of the figure represents the invisibility of women in social structure, the continuation of the background patterns across her body points to the fact that she is seen not as an individual with her own identity, but merely as an element that carries the culture. Through this colorful-colorless contrast, the work narrates a woman's search for her own essence in the shadow of traditional burdens.
