This work addresses the erasure and disregard of women's identity in the traditional world. While the colorful carpet motifs in the background symbolize a vibrant, deep-rooted and dominant culture; the black-and-white depiction of the woman shows how she is left colorless, silent and in the background within this colorful world.
The facelessness of the figure represents the invisibility of women in the social structure, while the continuation of the background patterns on her body indicates that women are seen not as having their own identity, but merely as an element carrying culture. The work narrates women's search for their own essence in the shadow of traditional burdens through this colorful-colorless contrast.
