Letafet
A piece where I blended the modern and the classical. I added textural depth to the canvas using real raffia cord to separate the neutral grey background from the gold/beige block at the bottom; the bead-like three-dimensional details in the hair and the miniature-inspired floral branches hanging from above further reinforce this decorative feel. The figure's melancholic pose touching the white column and the tan-toned shawl on her back give the work a calm, isolated, and slightly mythological atmosphere.

The rear-facing female figure I placed at the center of the composition carries both a mythological mystery and a deep inner tranquility with her bare shoulders and the draped shawl in tawny tones across her back; the moment she pauses, touching the white column with her left hand, represents a melancholic fragment in which time seems to freeze. While the bead-like three-dimensional details I worked into the character's hair crown this elegance with a naive handcrafted touch, the miniature and fresco-inspired flowering branches hanging from above lend the work a nostalgic and orientalist atmosphere.
While balancing the plain and neutral gray area in the background with the matte golden yellow and beige block in the lower section, I placed real raffia rope on the surface to separate these two segments, adding physical texture and depth to the canvas. Through this three-dimensional contrast created by the flat surface of the paint and elements such as rope and beads, I aimed to elevate the work beyond a merely viewed painting into a powerful and decorative structure that also triggers the sense of touch.
