Gizem Apaydın is an illustrator who works with a focus on children's books and illustration.
Her drawings feature a nostalgic atmosphere, textures that give the feeling of dry pencil, and pastel color palettes. The balance between chaos and love, innocence and slight strangeness forms the fundamental source of her productions. The stories she tells are often silent; however, when looked at closely, they carry strong emotions.
In the works she produces for publishing houses and illustration projects, she values creating a narrative that maintains the sincerity of a child's perspective while winking at the adult world. In her work, she prefers to preserve the handmade feel and the warmth of the line rather than a finished appearance.
She currently continues to produce both personal projects and publication-focused illustrations. She aims for her drawings to leave a brief pause, a familiar feeling, or a gentle smile in the viewer.
She graduated from Haliç University Interior Design department.
She is currently studying Visual Communication Design at Anadolu University.
As a member of the Illustrators Platform at Kadıköy Comics Festival and
has contributed within the team at Istanbul International Children's Festival (İÇEF).
