In the Turkish War of Independence, the faces of the nameless female heroes who carried cannonballs to the front are not visible, representing them anonymously. I used charcoal for the figures because the conditions were harsh and difficult. The Crescent and star rising from behind the hill, representing our flag, are colorful as they signify hope and that victory is near. The red and white color, the Crescent and star are prominent and sharp as they represent our flag.
The figures are in motion from left to right and toward the hill. The Crescent and star are in the upper left corner in accordance with the rule of thirds, while the negative space is in the upper right corner.
I used charcoal and dry paint on high-grammage paper.
