Gözde Yıldırım' More From
What is visible is an organic deconstruction of memory, fragmented identities and existence. Instead of fitting body and soul into a single form; it has been treated as a biomorphic knot consisting of intertwined limbs where memories and time are piled on top of each other. The multiplying hands and different skin tones in the painting represent not a deformed body, but different "selves" that we accumulate over time and that remain suspended in our memory. The work emphasizes that the act of remembering is not linear; on the contrary, it is a chaotic process in which we fragment and reconstruct ourselves with each act of remembering.
