Time Remaining Inside

TR
This work presents a silent and contemplative narrative that centers on the relationship between interior space and the outside world. The curtains positioned on both sides give the viewer a sense of stage; the view seen behind the glass is perceived more like an image that comes alive in the mind or a theater set rather than a real exterior space. The curtains not only create a spatial framework; they also transform into a powerful metaphor symbolizing the delicate balance between concealment and revelation.

The vast landscape stretching behind the glass and the house in the distance, appearing so small as to be almost imperceptible; evokes feelings of distance, loneliness and belonging. While the smallness of the house emphasizes human fragility in the face of nature and time, it also embodies the idea of a home that is desired to be reached. Against the openness and vastness of the landscape, the house is positioned as a quiet and modest presence. The teapot at the center of the composition, located right in front of the glass, reinforces the contrast between the inner and outer world. In contrast to the distant and limitless space outside, the teapot represents the warmth of the interior space, daily life, and the trace of human presence. This object is not merely a household item; it is a symbol of waiting, stillness, and inner time. While time flows in the outer world, in the inner space time is either boiling or suspended. The work invites the viewer to think about the person looking rather than the landscape being looked at. Who is looking, why are they inside, and does the concept of "home" reside inside or outside? The glass stands right in the middle of these questions; as a boundary that is permeable but difficult to cross, it forms the fundamental conceptual axis of the work.
