The red butterfly positioned on a sculptural hand form represents a silent encounter about the fragility of life and the transience of transformation. The union of the cold and static hand with the butterfly, a symbol of vitality, points to the delicate balance between life and change. With its simple composition and limited color palette, the work invites the viewer to reflect on the transient nature of existence.

This work is a continuation of a rethought idea derived from the artist's engraving titled "The Lifespan of a Butterfly," produced during their university years. Focusing on the transient nature of existence, the work explores the relationship between the fragility of life and the inevitability of transformation through the metaphor of a human hand and a butterfly.
The hand form, with its sculptural appearance, evokes stillness and permanence, while the red butterfly positioned upon it symbolizes the brevity of life, change, and transience. This contrast points to the delicate balance between the continuity and the mortality of life.
In the work produced using oil on canvas technique, brushstrokes have been left visible, and in certain areas the paint has been built up on the surface to create a layered effect. In this way, the surface transcends being merely a formal means of expression and becomes an element that strengthens the emotional and intellectual atmosphere of the work. The minimal composition and limited color palette invite the viewer to reflect on the transient nature of existence.
