Oil on canvas, brushwork technique / 25 × 25 cm / Deep stretcher, unframed This work is a continuation of a reimagined concept inspired by the artist's engraving titled "The Lifespan of a Butterfly," created during their university years. Focusing on the transient nature of existence, the work explores the relationship between the fragility of life and the inevitability of transformation through the metaphor of a human hand and a butterfly. The hand form, with its sculptural appearance, evokes stillness and permanence, while the red butterfly positioned upon it symbolizes the brevity of life, change, and transience. This contrast points to the delicate balance between the continuity and the mortality of life. In this oil on canvas work, the brushstrokes have been left visible, and in certain areas the paint has been built up on the surface to create a layered effect. As a result, the surface transcends its role as a mere formal means of expression and becomes an element that reinforces the emotional and intellectual atmosphere of the work. The minimal composition and limited color palette invite the viewer to reflect on the transient nature of existence.
