https://derindemirkaya.xyz/ • derin is an artist based in izmir. she received training in traditional jewelry craftsmanship from master artisans in istanbul’s grand bazaar and graduated from the jewelry technology and design undergraduate program at marmara university. the technical knowledge, discipline of handcraft, and material-oriented approach she developed during her education form the foundation of her production practice. in her work, she approaches jewelry not as an accessory or a permanent object, but as a temporary field of relation established between the body, space, and experience. her practice focuses on material value, transformation, and its relationship with time. initially shaped by a more disciplined, studio-centered process, her production has gradually evolved into a more exploratory and mobile structure. being in different geographies, observing, and working with local materials are integral parts of her practice. her works position themselves between jewelry, object, and spatial installation. • derin, izmir’de yaşayan bir sanatçıdır. istanbul kapalıçarşı’da ustalardan geleneksel mücevherat zanaati eğitimi almış, marmara üniversitesi kuyumculuk takı teknolojisi ve tasarımı lisans programından mezun olmuştur. eğitim sürecinde edindiği teknik bilgi, el işçiliği disiplini ve malzeme odaklı yaklaşım, üretim pratiğinin temelini oluşturur. üretimlerinde takıyı bir aksesuar ya da kalıcı bir nesne olarak değil; beden, mekân ve deneyim arasında kurulan geçici bir ilişki alanı olarak ele alır. üretimi, malzemenin değeri, dönüşümü ve zamanla kurduğu ilişki üzerine yoğunlaşır. başlangıçta daha disiplinli ve atölye merkezli ilerleyen üretim süreci, zamanla keşfe açık ve hareketli bir yapıya evrilmiştir. farklı coğrafyalarda bulunmak, gözlem yapmak ve yerel malzemelerle çalışmak pratiğinin önemli bir parçasıdır. üretimleri mücevher, obje ve mekânsal yerleştirme arasında konumlanır.
