Memory of a Gaze explores the subtle emotional resonance that can remain after a single glance.
Built through layered acrylic textures and expressive color fields, the painting unfolds as a delicate balance between presence and disappearance. Soft transitions of color interact with darker marks, suggesting the trace of a moment that cannot be fully captured yet continues to live in memory.
Rather than depicting a literal gaze, the work invites the viewer to enter a reflective space where perception, emotion and memory intertwine.
As in much of Serpil Ersü's practice, the painting evolves through an intuitive dialogue with the canvas. Layers emerge gradually, allowing the work to develop its own internal rhythm.
