Memory is not a static archive or a photograph frame stored as it is; rather, it is a dynamic puzzle that the mind reconstructs with each recollection. This work addresses the erosion that memories undergo over time and the new, fragmented reality that emerges as a result of this erosion.
With the passage of time, images blur, faces merge into one another, and memories fragment to take on new forms in the depths of the mind. The interwoven structure of the figures in the work and the surrounding hands symbolize the effort to hold this fragmented past together. Each brushstroke represents the process by which what is remembered breaks away from absolute reality and transforms into an emotional construct. This composition leaves the viewer alone with the question: Is what we remember what really happened, or is it a new illusion created by our mind to fill the gaps?
