A Midsummer Night's Dream is a multi-layered composition produced in 2022, presenting an original synthesis of mixed media and acrylic techniques. Even when the title is read independently of Shakespeare's play of the same name, it points to a universal experience: the dream's own peculiar logic, the magical ambiguity of a summer night, and the strange beauty encountered at the threshold where these two intersect. The work does not depict this experience literally; rather, it translates its inner texture — the feeling of dreaming — into a visual language. The composition appears chaotic at first glance, yet this chaos is meticulously constructed. The tension between the upper area dominated by red and the lower area deepened by navy blue and black holds the two faces of the dream — the fiery and the dark — together. Between these two poles, fragments of white, yellow, orange, pink, green, and purple connect with one another through a dream logic: boundaries are permeable, forms remain incomplete, one shape flows into another. One of the work's most distinctive formal decisions is the use of dotted halftone areas reminiscent of print texture alongside painted surfaces. This element brings pop art's clarity of consciousness and its media layers into the composition, symbolizing that permeable threshold between dream and wakefulness, the intertwining of reality and fiction. It is the same in dreams: real images take on unrecognizable forms, familiar things become estranged. The fine lines — orange, white, red — extending freely throughout the composition create a separate layer of meaning. These lines neither draw boundaries nor complete a form; they simply pass, intersect, and connect. Just like the images that follow one another in a dream: each momentary, each leaving a trace, none complete. A Midsummer Night's Dream is a visual map of the unconscious. The work does not narrate the dream; it brings the dream to life. If the viewer, while gazing at this canvas, allows themselves to drift into that familiar yet never quite graspable dream state, then the work has arrived exactly where it intended.
