Everything Upside Down

Everything Upside Down is an exuberant and transformative composition produced in acrylic on canvas measuring 70×90 cm, refusing to be contained within its vertical format. The title is both deeply familiar and heavily loaded. To be turned upside down describes that shocking moment of transformation when up becomes down, right becomes wrong, and the reliable becomes unreliable. But this work presents being upside down not as a catastrophe, but as an inevitable and even necessary upheaval. Sometimes everything going upside down is the harbinger of a new order. The most striking formal feature of the composition is the use of large color planes. The calm light blue rectangle standing on the left, the pink and black masses rising on the right, the vivid green emerging at the bottom and the dark areas in the lower corners — these do not stand parallel to one another; they push and challenge each other. No plane has fully settled, no area has found peace. This instability is the product of a deliberate construction; the very state of being upside down is embedded in the spine of the composition. The color choices also support this upheaval on an emotional level. The cold and calm blue of the left confronts the fiery pink and navy of the right like opposing poles. The center caught between these two worlds is the most complex and most honest area: layers of orange, purple, burgundy, black and beige are piled on top of one another, interwoven with each other. That vertical area near skin tone at the very center — almost like an abstract human figure — symbolizes a presence standing within all this chaos, shaken but still upright. The orange and green forms at the top, despite all this weight, carry an energy of hope surging upward. Everything that is turned upside down eventually falls somewhere; and where it falls is a new starting point. These small but insistent colors are the harbingers of that beginning. Fine lines — white, orange, pink — wander between these large planes like a search for balance. These are not solutions but a quest; they are the traces of a mind trying to find new coordinates in a world turned upside down. Everything Upside Down can be the painting of both a personal moment of rupture and a collective experience. The work neither judges that feeling of being shaken nor offers consolation; it simply makes it visible in a full and honest way.
