Decision

Decision is an intense composition produced using mixed technique and acrylic in dimensions of 30.5×40.5 cm, carrying the full weight and tension of a moment within a vertical format. The title is a single word, and this singularity carries both power and burden. Decision contains everything that must accumulate beforehand — doubt, weighing, waiting, fear — and that irreversible moment that follows. This work visualizes not the decision itself, but that critical second when the decision is made. What came before is ending, what comes after has not yet begun; the composition stands right at this threshold. Red and orange undisputedly dominate this work. This fiery color family flowing from the upper left to the right and downward is the color of determination, the act of will, and the impossibility of return. Red here symbolizes not danger, but courage and commitment — that burning clarity at the moment when one door closes and another opens. The blue and turquoise areas standing before or behind this red flow represent the cool-headed element in decision, the color of logic and calculation. This tension between red and blue constitutes the two major components of decision: emotion and mind. The green and yellow areas on the left edge symbolize the plurality before the decision, that is, the options still possible. These colors have been pushed to the edge of the composition — when a decision is made, options withdraw from view, only the chosen path remains in the center. The large orange mass on the right is that chosen path itself: large, insistent and indisputable. White lines carry particularly defining meaning in this work. These thin, sharp lines extending throughout the composition represent the mental clarity at the moment of decision, that invisible boundary drawn within confusion. When a decision is made, the mind does exactly this: draws a thin line in the midst of all the noise and separates the sides. Halftone texture areas place this personal moment in a social and cultural context — decisions never come solely from within the individual; environment, pressure and collective memory are also present at that moment. The white and light pink area at the bottom functions like a ground, a foundation within all this intensity. This quiet area symbolizes the ground on which the decision is made, that is, the person themselves — that essence that remains standing despite all the shaking, all the fear. Decision freezes a universal and inevitable human experience on canvas. The work does not tell which decision was made; but it conveys completely and honestly how that moment feels — burning, colorful, polyphonic and irreversible. When the viewer looks at this canvas, they remember one of their own major decisions; and realize that moment still lives within them.
