Die ineinander verwobene Struktur der Figuren in der Arbeit und die umgebenden Hände symbolisieren das Bemühen, diese fragmentierte Vergangenheit zusammenzuhalten. Jeder Pinselstrich repräsentiert den Prozess, in dem das Erinnerte sich von der absoluten Realität löst und zu einer emotionalen Konstruktion wird.
