Aimless Journey

Aimless Journey is a multi-layered collage and mixed-media composition created by bringing together layers of different textures, colors, and materials. The word "avare" (aimless/wanderer) in the title summarizes the spirit of the work in a single word. Aimlessness is not a lack of purpose, but a free wandering; it is the experience of the road itself, not the destination. This composition carries the trace of exactly such a mental journey — the pieces have found one another not out of necessity, but through a coincidental force of attraction. Two large circular forms draw attention in the structural composition of the work. The yellow semicircle rising against a black background on the left evokes a sun, a point on the horizon, or a beginning, while the semicircle emerging in the center, where red and black intertwine, holds a darker, more inward energy. These two circles symbolize the two poles of the journey: the open horizon and the inward journey. The white and black bars stretching between the circles stand like a coordinate system, yet point precisely nowhere — just as the wanderer has no map. The color palette reflects a deliberate plurality. Yellow, red, orange, blue, navy, black, and gray; each is like a different stop, a different mood, a different memory. In particular, the coexistence of the brushstroke texture of the painted red surface on the left with the flat geometric forms on the right presents both the emotional and objective dimensions of the journey simultaneously. The dotted dark background represents a quiet, fixed world — perhaps the city, perhaps routine — upon which all this movement rises. The overlapping of physical layers and materials formally mirrors the nature of aimless wandering. No piece fits perfectly, no edge closes completely; everything is slightly open, slightly unfinished, slightly in transit. This incompleteness is not a deficiency — it is the journey itself. Aimless Journey can also be read as a stance against the goal-fixated rush of modern life. The work makes a quiet but resolute defense of setting out without knowing one's destination, of surrendering to momentary attractions, and of finding meaning in that freedom. The journey is not over — and perhaps it never will be.
